The busy moving period around July 1st is now behind us. If you are one of the many Quebecers who have changed their primary residence and hold a primary residence registration for it, don’t forget to inform the CITQ!

If you have moved, or if you have decided to stop renting out your primary residence, you must notify the CITQ to close your file.

Non-Transferable Registration
If you plan to offer tourist accommodations in your new primary residence, you must submit a new registration application for it after obtaining municipal compliance. The registration is non-transferable.

Change of Category?
If your establishment is no longer your principal residence, but you still own (or lease) it and wish to continue offering tourist accommodations for periods not exceeding 31 days, you must, after obtaining municipal compliance, submit a new registration application under the category "General Tourist Accommodation Establishment."

Principal Residence Establishment:
An establishment where, through a single reservation, accommodation is provided in the principal residence of the person operating it to one person or a single group of people at a time, with no meals served on-site.

The principal residence is the residence where a person habitually lives, centralizing their family and social activities, and whose address is the one indicated to most government ministries and agencies.
