MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTÈRE DU TOURISME DU QUÉBEC
TEMPORARY LODGING FOR THE BIO-FOOD SECTOR
We would like to inform you that on April 26 the Quebec government adopted an order authorizing bio-food producers and processors to rent accommodation units within a tourist accommodation establishment governed by the Act Respecting Tourist Accommodation Establishments to accommodate their workers. This new measure will meet the needs of bio-food producers and processors, such as agricultural producers, fish-farmers et fish processing plants.

You may therefore welcome these workers even if they come from another region or from other countries while, of course, respecting the protection measures in effect. It is important to mention that you are authorized to conclude exclusive agreements with these bio-food producers and processors, as indicated in
the related ministerial order.
Remember that the establishments of the “hotel” category are also authorized to welcome other clienteles in a context of providing essential services (ex.: healthcare workers).

However, tourist stays (31 days or less) are still prohibited.
We are aware that the implementation of the exceptional public health measures introduced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on your activities. This manner of responding to essential needs in a time of crisis could alleviate the effects.

Remember that, in order to support you in dealing with this situation, the Quebec government has implemented measures for companies and workers in all sectors of activity, including tourism. For more information, please visit Québec.ca/coronavirus.
