The Ministry of Tourism recently announced amendments to the Tourist accommodation Regulation aimed at promoting greater compliance in the sector. Some of these measures came into effect on April 9, 2026.

An anticipated change regarding certificate display
This amendment allows for:
easier access to the certificate for clients;
taking into account the realities of buildings where public display space is sometimes limited by allowing indoor display;
providing a clearer and more easily enforceable framework for operators.
The public can continue to use the Directory of Registered Tourist Accommodation Establishments of the Ministry of Tourism to verify the compliance of an establishment.

A recommendation from the industry
The CITQ is particularly pleased with this change as it directly reflects one of the recommendations it had made following comments and observations from several operators. We are happy to see that the Ministry of Tourism has taken this industry suggestion into account and incorporated it into the regulatory framework.

Other measures in effect since April 9, 2026
The following provisions are also in effect:
The obligation to clearly indicate the registration number and, where applicable, the name of the establishment in any advertising used for promotion and on any website, whether transactional or not, now also applies to social media.

Operators owning more than one tourist accommodation establishment and who advertise or promote them jointly may now simply include a statement that the establishments are registered in accordance with the Law, rather than listing all the relevant registration numbers.
We invite you to consult the press release from the Ministry of Tourism and its official publications for all details.

What you need to remember
Ensure that your registration certificate is properly displayed at the main entrance of your establishment, in a location visible to the tourist clientele;

Ensure that you clearly indicate your registration number and, where applicable, your establishment's name in any advertising used for promotion, on any website (transactional or not), and on social media.

What’s next?
A second wave of amendments to the Tourist accommodation Regulation will come into effect on September 1, 2026. We invite you to stay tuned for our upcoming communications, which will present these changes in a clear and gradual manner to adequately guide you in implementing them.

Note: Some of these measures may apply to you earlier if your registration expires on September 1, 2026, or in the weeks following that date, as any renewal request must be made within 60 days prior to the expiration date. If applicable, we will inform you.
