The CITQ would like to remind you that as of September 1, 2023, it is forbidden to display a classification sign (stars, suns or provisional attestation) issued any time before the new Tourist Accommodation Act came into effect in 2022. |
If you have not already done so, you must: |
Remove any classification sign displayed at your establishment. |
Remove any reproduction of this sign from any advertising used to promote your establishment or from any transactional or non-transactional website used in connection with the operation of your establishment. |
By law, Revenu Québec can impose fines for displaying or using a classification sign (or a reproduction thereof) after September 1, 2023. This offence is punishable by a fine of $1,000 to $10,000 in the case of an individual, and $2,000 to $20,000 in all other cases. |
DON’T TAKE THE RISK, REPLACE THE SIGN WITH THE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE! |

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE TO DISPLAY IN PUBLIC VIEW |
The registration of a tourist accommodation establishment will now take the form of a registration certificate. It must be displayed in public view at the main entrance to the establishment or, if the establishment is located in a building comprising several residential units, at the entrance to the building.
The certificate should be visible from outside the establishment (in a window, for example) and/or displayed in a location accessible to all, not only tourists. |
